Keep Your Orchid Healthy

Compared to plants like tomatoes or potatoes, your Pure Beauty orchid generally has very few pests and diseases. That said, it may occasionally get sick.

Whether your plant has a bacterial infection or a fungus, the key to a healthy orchid is immediate treatment. If left untreated, diseases spread and pests multiply.

An untreated fungal infection could kill your plant within seven days. If your plant smells bad and has discolored leaves, it probably has a bacterial infection.

Keep in mind however, that lots of diseases and orchid pest problems can be prevented with diligence and observation. Inspect your Pure Beauty orchid regularly and check under the leaves and around the buds. Remember to use sterile tools, wash your hands and keep your work area clean. For quick cuts, use a single-edge NEW razor blade and be sure to discard the used blade so you do not re-infect your orchid.

Your Pure Beauty orchid likes consistent temperatures, light levels and humidity. Most diseases are effortlessly treated and most pests are easily destroyed. But, if you do get stuck or aren’t sure how to treat your orchid, contact your local retailer or garden center.
